Every time I get my nails done (which I am terribly overdue for, seriously you should see the chipped 2-month-old mani I’m currently rocking), the technician always comments on how strong and long my nails are. She will often even call other staff members over to see for themselves. A bit over the top? Sure. But I suppose this is like nice teeth to a dentist, a beautiful piece of wood to a carpenter, a perfectly lit set to a photographer… you get my point. I have nice nails that grow super fast.
But they weren’t always that way. You see, a couple of years ago I was recommended by a friend to try taking biotin, otherwise known as vitamin B7. Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin that is vital to many body functions. But it’s also great for your hair, skin, and nails. My friend suggested I try it because my hair was in rough shape from over-processing, and so I did.
I found Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin, and Nails Gummies at Shopper’s Drug Mart and decided to test them out. I figured a gummie would be easier to take since it likely would taste alright. Let’s just say “alright” was a severe underestimate. These gummies are so good. I actually find it really hard to just take the recommended dosage. So be warned.
Two years later, I’m still taking them, and have found that they have definitely made a difference in the strength of my hair and also my nails. As far as the skin part goes, well, I’m not sure if they’ve helped or not. It’s hard to tell because I deal with hormonal acne and am always trying different things, so it’s hard to differentiate that effects of the vitamins from those of my other routines.
Either way, if you’re looking for a vitamin to help improve your skin and nails, that also tastes great (please remember to only take the recommended dosage though, haha), then these bad boys (girls?) are the vitamin for you. Get ready for the nail technicians to drool. As an added bonus, Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin, and Nails Gummies also help to metabolise carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, and also have many other health benefits!
