I’ve known about this for a while now, and I must apologize for not sharing sooner.
There are three main reasons why I’m only sharing this now, instead of 3 weeks ago when I first found out about it:
1) I wanted to have plenty of time to test it out myself first before recommending it.
2) I wanted to ensure it stayed live and wasn’t going to be shut down by Instagram quicker than I can eat an entire loaf of sourdough bread.
3) I wanted to see what Instagrammers were doing behind the scenes when they thought nobody was able to look anymore.
And let me tell you, I saw some interesting things. Instagrammers clearly buying followers again. Some suddenly following 50-200+ new accounts every day in an effort to get more followers/stop losing followers. Lots of juicy stuff.
So, what is this new alternative to Social Blade where we can transparently see an Instagram account’s activity again?
I present to you, Ninjalitics.
Now I know there is going to be another flood of those “but why should anyone care what anyone else is doing on Instagram?” comments. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, some Instagrammers are scamming companies by doing brand deals based on rates which are set on fake followers. If you want a more full picture of why this matters and how to tell if someone has fake followers, I have a comprehensive article on that here. Just keep in mind that Social Blade stopped working back at the end of March 2017, so for any new data you’re going to want to use Ninjalitics. You can still see old data on Social Blade though – which is very helpful to see activity in the past that was less than honest.
To use Ninjalitics, you have to search by username on the homepage of the website. If nobody else has searched the user you are searching for, they won’t be in the database yet, however, your search will signal the website to start tracking data on that person. If you check back in a few days and search the same account, you would then be able to see the data from those past few days.
Ninjalitics shows all the usual numbers, such as followers, following, and number of posts, but it also shows engagement rate, a chart that shows follower growth by day, a bar graph that shows followers and following by day, a bar graph that shows the total comments and likes on the last 12 posts, a standard table chart showing new followers, following, and posts per day, and more.
So there you have it. Another free alternative to Social Blade that is easily accessible by anyone. Hopefully this one sticks around for a while!
